from far, far, far away
there is no difference
between a planet and a star
they both shine bright
like little glowing embers
but right before you
it is obvious
the star has light and warmth
that comes from deep within
the planet,
none
if there was no star
the planet would no longer shine
but if there was no planet
the star would still
glow
---
I am a planet
a small insignificant
cold place
I whirl around my star
my beautiful
life giving star
I bask in light and warmth
unselfishly given by my star
without ever giving anything back
but
I wish
and strive
and dream
that one day even I
can also give something back
to my beautiful, beautiful star
Happy Birthday to my Beautiful Star
AWWWWWWWWWWW THIS IS BEAUTIFUL SOOOOOO CUTE I think it's romantic and reminds me of the other poem you wrote sort of like the star is a person someone loves and they will give you everything but you still have yet to give back????? XXXX
ReplyDeleteThank you, Maria! Yes, you could say the both poems are companion poems.
DeleteWhat a wonderful poem!
ReplyDeleteSo many of your poems speak to me so profoundly that I have difficulties refraining from silently crying. Your words are like feathers that penetrate the skin and tickle ever so slightly my failing heart. I love the way this is a two-part story, which paces inexorably to a heart-breaking truth.
It could also be entitled "the ballad of the whirling planet". So a planet would crave for a star, what a beautiful concept!
Lucky is the one who receives this poem as a birthday present.
WOW knerrir your words are so beautiful
DeleteAhaha, thanks Maria, but Ta-Meaut is the real star here! :D
DeleteAh, chucks guys...you are gonna make me blush...
DeleteAnd thanks, knerrir, your words mean a lot to me.
